Cllr’s court case to be heard at Commercial Crimes Court

ANC cllr to appear in court.

Fraud accused Nellmapius councillor Precious Marole will appear in the Commercial Crimes Court on 23 February.

He is facing charges of fraud charges that were laid in 2012 at the Silverton police station by Winnie Mashela of Nellmapius.

She claimed upon applying through the Tshwane metro for approval to open a crèche on a piece of land in 2010, everything was approved. She only needed a letter of recommendation from Marole to complete the application process.

She claimed that Marole demanded money for this and kept on postponing to sign the letter.

Mashela said: “I am very disappointed in our department of justice. The case should have been resolved by now, but is taking far too long. I want to move on with my life.”

Mashela said she had paid Marole a total of R43 000 to speed up the process of signing the letter. Some of the money was paid into his business account while the other money was given to the councillor in person.

“Justice must be done. The case had been dragging on too long. We are going to follow the case until the end.”

Record made several attempts to get hold of Marole, but he did not answer his phone for comment.
