A bridge will soon be constructed to connect Tsebe Village and Mabopane, north of Pretoria, says Tshwane metro mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa.

Work on the bridge would begin next month, he told residents during a public consultation meeting in Mabopane on Wednesday.

The consultation process themed, Waya Waya, involved residents of Region 1, ward 22.

Waya Waya was a follow-up to a recent visit by Gauteng premier David Makhura to Mabopane when he spoke to locals about service delivery problems.

Ramokgopa said Waya Waya was used by the metro to account to communities on work being done and to get input from them.

“This is one of the most effective public consultation processes of the municipality,” said the mayor.

“When we go to communities, we do so with an open mind because we know we are a government of the people which must account, but must also be open to public criticism and advice.”

Ramokgopa said residents would also get refuse bins from next Monday, adding: “We will restore the dignity of the Tsebe community by providing basic services.”
