Still continuing with the Bana Pele Programme for schools, the Social Development donated a total of 207 full school uniforms to pupils of Mveledzo Primary School on Wednesday morning.
The school uniforms were handmade by Retlogeng Cooperative from Winterveldt.
Dorothy Pale an official from Social Development said we are continuing with the programme.
“We have approached the school last year November to identify needy children from the school and funded Retlogeng Co-operative to make quality school uniforms for the children at the school,” said Pale.
“Social Development took the sizes for the children and gave them to Retlogeng Co-operative who immediately started sewing school uniforms for the pupils,” said Pale.
Today we are proud to hand over the school uniforms to the pupils.
Alice Modunela from Retlogeng Cooperative said we have started sewing the clothes from last year November after we were awarded with the tender to sew school uniforms for the school.
“We took our time because we wanted to make quality school uniforms,” said Modumela.
Principal of the school, Elizabeth Lebese said she was happy with the generous donation.
“The majority of our pupils come from poor background families especially in the informal settlement area. These uniforms uplift their spirit and helps them improve their school work,” said Lebese.
Half of the school’s pupils received uniforms.
