Be warned of TMPD fake jobs

Fake job posts have been circulated on social media.

People have been warned not to fall victim to a job scam doing the rounds in recent months.

The culprits post fraudulent job adverts, using the Tshwane metro police department (TMPD) as purported employer.

“The illegal job posts are a recurring problem that we receive regularly,” said spokesperson Phindile Molefe.

“We cannot really give a time frame of how long we have known about the scam.”

Molefe said no formal complaints had been laid by victims and no arrests had been made.

Molefe said anyone could be behind the ads as people had access to the internet anywhere and could post fraudulent ads.

She said in genuine TMPD adverts of vacancies, contact numbers would be provided for enquiries. They would not be posted on social media.

“We make use of the Tshwane metro website and the newspapers when we have a post that need to be filled,” she said.

“We urge the public to confirm jobs advertisements or visit the nearest TMPD office.”

The TMPD did not ask for money from applicants, she said.
