Local school offers exciting French exchange programme

Amity International School in Centurion will be sending 16 of their students to France in a few days to participate in an exciting exchange programme.

Amity International School in Centurion are sending 16 children from different grades on an exchange programme to France on Wednesday, 20 April 2016. The tour forms part of an exchange programme offered by the school, where children get the opportunity to live with French families for eight days.

“The aim of this programme is for us and the children to establish links with the school in France, form relations with the children they will be living with and for our South African children to be able to have the confidence and opportunity to have some experience of what the outside world is like. They’ll be able to relate to other cultures and probably adapt to a foreign environment if they choose to maybe live overseas one day,” says Anita Pillay, headmistress of Amity.

In February this year, a group of 13 French students visited from Institut de Genech in Lowys, France. They visited The Amity International School and stayed with families from the school also for eight days.

“When the French group visited us, we were completely responsible for all their expenses like meals and transport. The same applies now, them being responsible for our children’s expenses, apart from the flight tickets and spending money of course,” said Pillay.

The children will be exposed to extraordinary sites like the Eiffel tower, museums, parks and will also be attending school with some of the French children they are staying with.

Pillay explained that safety, financial obstacles and differences in school curriculums also played a vital role in choosing the timing of the tours.

Rekord wishes this group of children to have a safe and exciting  journey to France.
