Police are investigating cases of robbery and murder at the Hennops river in the past few months.
This follows an upsurge in crime in the area.
Last week, a body of a man believed to be in his 50s was found dumped next to the river in Erasmia.
Erasmia police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the man was believed to have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped there.
“His hands and feet tied with a rope.”
Moloto said the police were waiting for pathologist to inform them how the deceased was murdered.
A case of murder was being investigated, Moloto said.
In January, a group of 10 men raped a woman and robbed a few by the Hennops River, Erasmia.
“They were robbed at gunpoint while were fetching water.
In December last year, Piet (59) and Evah Beetge (49) were found dead in Hennops river.
The couple was believed to have been murdered.
In February and March two year ago, two separate cases of murder were opened after the bodies of two women were found in and near the Hennops river.
In the first case, a body of a woman was discovered on the riverbank in Raslouw and in the second, a body was discovered by a fisherman in the river in Atteridgeville.
