BREAKING NEWS: Man caught in cross fire with police

One suspect shot and another arrested during a shootout with police on Friday.

A man was shot following a high speed chase in the east of Pretoria on Friday afternoon.

Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said a suspicious-looking white VW Polo sped past a police van on Simon Vermooten Road. Police immediately gave chase.

Sepato said the  Polo turned left into Bush Street in Willow Park Manor attempting to escape police who were still in pursuit.

“The Polo then took a right into Stellanie Street which was unfortunately a dead end street,” said Sepato.

He said the vehicle reversed and suspects started to open fire.

Police returned fire and one of the suspects was shot and the other arrested.

Sepato said more information would follow.
