Man held over house robbery

It turned out that he was also wanted in a Mabopane case of theft.

Two armed house robbers were arrested in Soshanguve on Thursday.

Rietgat police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said officers responded around 05:00 to a complaint of a house robbery at Block GG in Soshanguve.

“Upon their arrival, officers were notified by the complainant (46) that a man entered her residence through an open window,” said Mangena.

“As the complainant entered (her home), the suspect attacked her and threatened her with a knife.”

The intruder ransacked the house and got away with several items, including two plasma television sets, jewellery, a camera, cellphones and personal documents.

“Officers searched the immediate vicinity with the help of the community and found the suspect hiding in the bushes with the stolen property,” he said.

The 46-year-old man from Winterveldt was arrested on charges of house robbery. It turned out that he was also wanted in a Mabopane case of theft.

He was detained at the Rietgat police station.

Mangena said police would continue clamping down on crime and the perpetrators.
