Worldwide Knit in Public Day celebrated
Women around Pretoria celebrated Worldwide Knit in Public Day on Saturday.
A total of 60 women of Event Wizards gathered at Menlo Park to celebrate the 2016 Worldwide Knit in Public Day on Saturday.
In small groups of knitters and crocheters they practiced their craft and socialised with each other.
They gathered between 10:00 and 13:00 to knit and crochet.
Marlize Olivier from Event Wizards said at the start of 2016 the group took a decision to support the Bramley Children’s Home in Groenkloof through various charity drives and small events, one of which was a knit in public party.
Participants were requested to bring a beanie or two, three or five for the benefit of the children at Bramley and more than 90 beanies were collected.
“Through all the chatting and laughing the women enjoyed a warm vegetable soup and sweet treats, respectively sponsored by the Monument Function Centre and Passi Deli,” said Olivier.
The women were able to browse through an amazing selection of yarns and purchase some at a pop-up shop that was setup by Annette from Mezomode Quilting & Sewing. Mezomode and One of a Kind Yarns also sponsored the prizes for the women donating the most beanies, the prettiest knitted beanie and the prettiest crocheted beanie.
“A sincere word of thanks furthermore goes out to each and every women who attended the event – without them this morning would not have been as enjoyable as it was,” said Olivier.
