Residents want Ramokgopa to remain as mayor
Resident want to hear nothing from DA mayoral candidate regarding the unrest.
Democratic Alliance (DA) mayoral candidate Solly Msimango visited Atteridgeville on Tuesday morning following the unrest in Pretoria.
Msimango said he was in Atteridgeville to calm the situation down.
“This has got nothing to do with Atteridgeville. It is about the ANC fighting the ANC. The children and community should not be held ransom by this,” Msimango said.
Schools were closed on Tuesday morning and exams at Tshwane South College in Atteridgeville were postponed due to protests.
Atteridgeville resident Kyle Mohale said the community was not happy about Thoko Didiza being the new ANC mayoral candidate for Tshwane.
“We want a Tshwane-born leader like Bafana Sibisi. Is the ANC trying to tell us there is no one from Tshwane able to lead us? We cannot accept Didiza, she is not from here and cannot speak our language.”
Mohale said the ANC must leave them alone.
