Professional golfer devotes time to development
Sixty children from Mabopane attended the golf clinic hosted at Mabopane Golf Driving Range on Thursday.
Sixty pupils from local schools enjoyed a round of golf with well-known golfer Montsho Molope at the Mabopane Golf Driving Range on Thursday.
The pupils were participating in a golf clinic run by Bra Moss, as Montsho is popularly known, aimed at exposing township kids to golf at a young age.
The event was organised by Ramontsho Golf Development Academy as part of its Youth month commemoration.
“The significance of Youth month and the impact golf could have on their lives was explained to the children,” said Bra Moss.
The pupils were taught the basics golf, such as how to hold a club, hitting the ball, the correct swing technique and rules and etiquette of golf.
Bra Moss also shed light on what it takes to be a golf player.
The passionate golf teacher said: “It is my aim to expose pupils to golf courses as well as teach them on how to play.”
The Mabopane Driving Range affords the residents of Tshwane the opportunity to participate in the game.
It is 220 metres in size and can accommodate up to 20 golfers at once.
The pupils had a chance to test the range in a practise round.
“They were excited to be on the putting green,” he said.
The clinic is held every year in June.
