Tshwane townships without water

Tshwane metro has warned residents there will be an interruption to the water supply on Thursday.

Parts of Pretoria will be without water on Thursday.

The Tshwane metro has warned residents that there will be no water from 09:00 until 17:00.

“Scheduled maintenance work that will be carried out by Eskom on the Corobrick/Grootfontein feeder cable tomorrow will interrupt normal supply,” said spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

Mashigo said the the maintenance would affect the water pump.

The service interruption will affect the following areas:

– Bronkhorstspruit

– Zithobeni

– Ekangala

– Ekandustria

– Rethabiseng

– Tembisile local municipality

Meanwhile, the metro‘s department of water and sanitation will shutdown the Temba water treatment plant for maintenance work tomorrow.

“The service interruption period will be for 24 hours starting from 07:30 in that area,” said Mashigo.

During this period, the metro has arranged roaming water tankers to supply water to the affected residents.

The following areas in the Hammanskraal area will be affected:

– Stinkwater

– Dilopye

– Temba

– Babelegi industrial area

– Marokolong

– Ramotse

– Majaneng

– Mandela Village

– Sekampaneng

– Hammanskraal

“Once the water supply is restored, residents are urged to use water sparingly,” said Mashigo.
