Police pounce on Silverton ‘thieves’

They were caught thanks to swift reaction to a tip-off.

Two men were caught with stolen goods in Silverton on Wednesday, police said.

Spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the arrest was made possible by the swift reaction of the crime prevention unit.

Three laptops and a television set were seized from the two Nigerians nationals aged between 30 and 44.

Sepato said they were arrested at a flat in Silversand Complex after a tip-off about people dealing in drugs.

“On arrival, the six members of the crime prevention unit found the two suspects inside the flat working with laptops,” he said.

“The suspects failed to give a satisfactory explanation for them being in possession of the items.”

No drugs were found in the flat.

The arrested pair would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
