Suicide in cemetery suspected
A firearm believed to have been used by the deceased was found on the scene.
A man found dead on Thursday in Zandfontein cemetery in Pretoria West is believed to have committed suicide.
Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the 60-year-old man had a bullet wound to the head.
“We suspected that the man might have committed suicide, but are still waiting for investigations to be finalised.”
“An inquest was opened at the Pretoria West police station, ” he said.
Moloto said a firearm believed to have been used by the deceased was found on the scene.
The body was discovered by passers-by who noticed a white Nissan X-trail vehicle parked inside the cemetery on Thursday morning, he said.
“Police were alerted and on their arrival they found the man with a bullet wound to his head.”
Not much new detail had since been provided, Moloto said.
