Thousands of people gathered at the Pretoria High School for Girls for the Spring Fair event on Saturday.
The annual event taking place for the third time, seems to gain popularity.
“Last year about 6 000 people attended and this year we had approximately 9 000 visitors,” one of the parents Karin Harris said.
Among various activities taking place at the event was the battle of chefs which attracted a significant number of people. The battle saw Pretoria High School for Girls’ head girl, Gift Baloyi, facing head boy for Pretoria Boys’ High Matthew Glover. However, there were no loser in the competition with both parties excelling in the kitchen.
The cooking event also gave pupils, teachers, parents and friends an opportunity to compete.
Young people and adults were treated to various entertainment activities such as music and gaming facilities. Food and craft works were available at various stalls.
The spring fair event takes place annually to raise money for Pretoria High School for Girls.
“The money raised from the event helps with the maintenance of the school and supporting some of its activities,” Harris said.
Harris said they were planning to invite prominent people to join them in next year’s event and also focus on expanding it.
