304 arrested during police operation
Crime combating initiatives included raiding and visible policing
A total of 304 people were arrested during police operations in Pretoria North over the weekend.
In statement, police said: “Our members in this [Tshwane North] cluster were involved in different crime combating initiatives, including raids and visible policing, over the weekend.”
“These operations were conducted around Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Pretoria North and Akasia, which includes parts of Rosslyn.”
People were arrested for different crimes during the operation.
“A total number of 304 suspects were apprehended for crimes including rape, hijackings, attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, warrant of arrest, arson and undocumented persons.”
Crime and drug abuse has escalated in Pretoria North townships in recent years, as the use of nyaope has increased, the police said.
