Woman’s quest for justice a year on
“It is so painful to lose a child. He was the most amazing child that anyone could wish for.”
The Pretoria mother whose 19-year-old son was killed in Johannesburg last year, is still looking for justice.
Vanitha Pillay, from Centurion, said her son was killed while out out at a tavern in Randburg on 13 June last year.
“According to two eyewitnesses, my son and his friend were provoked inside the tavern. Five men came to them and an argument ensured,” she said.
“My son took out a golf stick and one of the five men unleashed a firearm and shot him twice.”
Pillay said she received a call later that her son had died on his way to hospital.
“It is so painful to lose a child. He was the most amazing child that anyone could wish for.”
She asked the court to bring the case to an end as it had been dragging on for some time.
“My son’s killer is currently out on bail. Last week, he appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed to Friday.”
Pillay said the killer was arrested at the scene.
Police could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
