Stolen car recovered, two arrested
The men were caught when a second Hi Risk Unit vehicle intercepted them.
Two men were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle in Groenkloof, Pretoria East, on Monday.
Hi Risk Unit operations director Arthur Crewe said they received a tip-off of two suspicious men in the area driving a beige Toyota Corolla.
“When our vehicle arrived, the two men walked away from the vehicle.”
Crewe said another Hi Risk Unit vehicle was called when the men tried to escape on foot. They were intercepted and arrested.
Upon investigation, the Hi Risk Unit crew found the ignition of the Toyota had been tampered with and the men were found with multiple licence disks of stolen Corollas in their possession.
It was later determined that the vehicle had been stolen in Wierda Park.
The two suspects were handed over to Sunnyside police.
