A marked police car with no number plates was spotted in a hijacking in Centurion on Tuesday evening.
Wierdabrug CPF chairperson Ockert Kruger said a white BMW with flying squad branding was used in the hijacking of a Land Rover in Rooihuiskraal.
Kruger said according to the victim, the BMW had three men inside, all armed and in civilian clothing.
“We got a call to attend to the crime at 20:59 and spotted the fully-marked SA Police Service white BMW along Panorama Road,” said Kruger.
Kruger said the CPF alerted the police, who found the abandoned black Discovery Land Rover on Rooihuiskraal Road.
“The car was recovered along Rooihuiskraal Road on the bridge going over the N14. The perpetrators fled with the car keys,” said Kruger.
Kruger said no one was harmed in the process.
The perpetrators fled in a southerly direction, towards Johannesburg.
Weirdabrug police, who were on the scene, were not immediately available for comment.
