Hawks pounce on prostitute ring
Eight women were taken in for interviewing by the Hawks.
Four people were arrested by the Hawks yesterday for suspected involvement in a prostitution ring.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda says ten women were rescued from a prostitution ring in an apartment on the corner of Francis Baard and Wessels Street in Hatfield in the east of Pretoria. One of them was pregnant.
“We were able to accomplish this through a joint operation with the Pretoria Hawks organised crime unit, TRT, K9 unit, home affairs immigration officials and crime scene management experts.”
One man (32) was arrested after he was caught with three girls, whom he was allegedly using as prostitutes.
“Two of the girls, who claimed to be from Zimbabwe, and another Nigerian man have been detained for convening the Immigration Act,” Netshiunda said.

Another local man was taken in for questioning after he had allegedly come to the apartment for the services of the women.
“The officers also found two vehicles on site. We suspect they have been stolen,” Netshiunda said.
The four suspects will appear in court soon.
