SAPS nab 76 in crime blitz
Police were involved in different crime combating initiatives over the weekend.
Police have nabbed 76 suspects in a weekend crime blitz conducted around the Tshwane North Cluster.
Police spokesperson Captain Mathews Nkoadi said police were involved in different crime combating initiatives over the weekend.
The activities included raids on suspects, visible policing and shebeen raiding around all sectors of Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Pretoria North and Akasia.
Nkoadi said 76 suspects were arrested.
“Crimes for which suspects were arrested included rape, hijacking, attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, arson and undocumented persons.”
All suspects arrested will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve and Pretoria North magistrate’s courts soon, he said.
Meanwhile, Ga-Rankuwa police are still searching for four men in connection with a business robbery that took place last Saturday at Pep Store at Ga-Rankuwa Shopping Centre where an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
Police are requesting information from residents that may lead to the arrest of the men. Residents can call the police on the crime stop number 08600 10111 or the SMS crime line on 32211.
