Warning: robberies at licensing offices in Pretoria
People warned against getting help from people outside licensing offices pretending to be employees
Metro police have put out a warning about robbers at the licensing offices in Pretoria.
“It came to the department’s attention that members of the public are being robbed of large amounts of money at Centurion, Waltloo, Rayton and Winternest licensing departments,” the metro police said in a statement on Monday.
The statement said people were targeted when going to pay their motor vehicle licenses and fines. The culprits pretend to be employees of the licensing office operating outside the premises.
“Members of the public are urged not to request or accept assistance from strangers. They should speak to staff inside the offices, pay the money over the counter and request a receipt.”
The Tshwane Metro police department (TMPD) said it would continue to monitor these areas but warned people to avoid falling victim to these criminals.
Any suspicious activities can be reported to the TMPD on 012 358 7095/6 or reported at the nearest police station.
