Moot ‘drug dealer’ arrested
Police arrested an alleged cocaine dealer following a tip-off from a resident.
A man is expected in court on Wednesday, to face a charge of possession of drugs.
The 23-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, in the Moot following a tip-off from a resident.
Police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the informant told the police that the man had drugs in his house.
Breedt said the police searched the home and found cocaine with the street value of R1 000 and other chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs.
Breedt said the police were tipped off while they and their Tshwane metro counterparts were conducting anti-crime operations at various local parks.
Breedt said seven people were arrested during the operations.
The operations targeted hotspots in the Moot.
He said on one of the operations, the police had demolished a temporary shelter which had been used for criminal activity.
