Six security guards held hostage

The robbers held the guards hostage from Thursday night to Friday morning.

Police are searching for the more than ten robbers who held six security guards hostage at Temba City Complex in Hammanskraal.

The guards were held hostage from Thursday night to Friday morning last week while the robbers were breaking into the ATMs at the complex,

Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said: “The robbers used grinders to cut into six ATMs and took an undisclosed amount of money.”

Moremi said the banks targeted were First National Bank, Standard Bank and Capitec.

UPDATE: Two killed in hostage drama
“The robbers are unknown and left the scene around 03:00,” he said adding that no shots were fired and no one injured in the ordeal.

A case of business robbery has been opened and investigations are underway.
