Know your rights at a roadblock

Be clued up on your rights as a motorist when you get pulled over during the festive season.

Your holidays might be drawing to a close and you might be on your way home.

According to the ministry of transport there had been 845 roadblocks across the country over the 2014 festive season, and people could unintentionally have found themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Tertius Bossert, head of FNB’s law on call says people should familiarise themselves with the laws of the country and the bylaws of cities and towns. Especially regarding drinking and driving, unpaid traffic fines and even smaller matters like the use of fireworks to ensure festivities are enjoyed within the limits of these laws.

FNB’s law on call encourages people to know their rights this festive season. Bossert has the following tips about your rights when you get pulled over at a roadblock.
