KFC Mini-Cricket Kids to face Proteas
Learners of Fleur primary school trained with Proteas batting coach Neil Mckenzie ahead of their tour match with the Proteas.
The KFC Mini-Cricket Kids had their first official training session at Fleur primary school, Centurion on Wednesday.
The Fleur Primary School learners will battle the Proteas in the second tour match at Supersport Park on Friday afternoon.
The KFC Mini-Cricket kids vs Proteas tour allows children between the ages of six and 12 an equal opportunity to get outside and get active.
“Children not only have fun practising their batting and bowling skills, but also develop self-confidence and get the physical exercise they need, all while having fun with their new-found friends on the pitch,” KFC said on their website.

The first tour match saw the Proteas taking on Kimberly Islamic school last week.
The Kimberly learners came close to winning, but eventually lost by just two runs.
Fleur primary school have the opportunity to cause an upset and with former Proteas batsman Neil Mckenzie as their assistant coach, their chances looks good.
“I’m so excited to take on the Proteas with the Fleur primary school kids,” said Mckenzie.
“We are aware the Proteas have been playing good cricket of late but we will give it everything we’ve got and hopefully level the series up.”
He said it was important to teach the young ones to get the basics right from a young age.
“Right now we are focusing on their technical skills, but more importantly it is for them to have fun out here on the field.”
Learner Harina Khatri said she was looking forward to Friday’s game.
“I’m so excited to play against the Proteas. I’ve learned how to bowl from the wicket, so I think I’m ready to play,” she said.
