NEWSFLASH:  Man burnt in stove explosion

“The man was found covered with blankets surrounded by bystanders.”

A man was almost killed when his primus stove exploded in Mamelodi at the weekend.

The man was found covered with blankets surrounded by bystanders on Hinterland Avenue on Saturday around 23:30.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said medics arrived to find the man lying on the floor with 50 percent burns to his head, upper body and arms.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the man had gone into his shack and tried to light a primus stove when it exploded.”

“The patient was stabilised at the scene before they transported him to a specialised hospital for the care that he required.”
