Hatfield will be a little haven after Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga launched the metro police unit to police the area.
The unit comprises 22 officers who will be stationed in the Hafield City Improvement District (CID) actively patrolling the area to help curb crime.

At the launch on Wednesday were various stakeholders who came on board to help the city fund the purchase of the bicycles.
The city’s crime fighting strategy for the area also includes the installation of new CCTV cameras “in due course”.
Msimanga promised to continually support the unit to ensure it flourished in its fight to curb crime. “This unit will help boost our crime fighting efforts and restore the image of Hatfield as the safe neighbourhood it used to be.”
He said he unit was the blueprint of what would be rolled out in other areas where he wanted to introduce the measure such as Soshanguve, Mamelodi and Centurion “depending on business coming on board”.
He encouraged a solid working relationship between the government, society and business in support of initiatives that encouraged community safety.
