VIDEO: Mamelodi school gets clean bill of health

Bestmed empowers school management team of Bula-Dikgoro Primary School

Teachers and staff of Bula-Dikgoro primary school underwent a health assessment organised by Bestmed medical scheme on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Bafihlile Mokoena said the teachers also attended an injury and wound care training to enable them to help learners should a learner get injured at school.

“This is not the first time we have visited the school, Bestmed adopted the school in partnership with Partners for Possibility,” said Mokoena.

“Our efforts are to support and develop local schools by equipping principals with the skills and knowledge to lead change and mobilise the communities around their schools and also to provide practical hands-on support to principals as they embark on a change journey at their schools.”

Pieter van Zyl, acting CEO at Bestmed, said he was pleased to be part of an initiative that inspired change and had a positive impact on future leaders.

“We hope that after the team building programme, the team at Bula-Dikgoro will be encouraged to work more collaboratively and ensure efficient and effective service delivery.”

Partners for Possibility is a creative solution to South Africa’s education crisis and co-learning partnership between school principals and business leaders to enable social cohesion.

Bestmed also donated R10 000 to the school.

“We are also planning to return to install an intercom system at the school,” said Mokoena.

Principal Lilly Montana said the learners and teachers were excited that Bestmed had chosen their school and thanked David Mogoene of Partners for Possibility who introduced the school to Bestmed.

“The generous donations by Bestmed since they adopted the school has made our job very easy especially with the computers they donated,” said Montana.

She said a health day for teachers and staff was a good idea because most left home early and returned late, so never had time to go for medical check-ups.
