SAPS station commanders in the north of Pretoria have vowed to step up their fight against crime.
The commanders were sharing their New Year resolutions and well wishes with their local residents recently.
Colonel Letta Matshidiso Kgoadi of Pretoria North SAPS thanked the men and women in blue who worked throughout the festive season to keep residents safe.
“The management of Pretoria North SAPS would like to thank all employers, community policing forums (CPFs) and community watch groups in joining hands to combat and continue to fight crime with us,” she said.
“We wish our members and residents a prosperous New Year.”

Akasia’s Colonel Boykie Ginindza thanked residents, CPFs and other organisations who contributed to the police’s success in last year.
“Working with you this past year has been a pleasure and we are proud to have you standing with us again this year.“We also acknowledge the immense contribution made by our members who passed away last year. May their souls rest in peace.”

Sinoville’s Colonel Maria Roberts also thanked the residents and her officers.
“We have made great strides as a police station to live up to the slogan, Batho Pele (people first) and improved our service delivery to the public.
“We have also made various improvements in our strategy to combat crime and are preventing more crimes instead of only responding to them,” said Roberts.
She also thanked all her hardworking colleagues for their support and commitment to reaching their goals, adding that their success would not be possible without the community, Sinoville Crisis Centre and CPF.
“You are our eyes and ears on the ground. This year we would like to see this forum growing so that more community members can get involve in combating crime.”

Lieutenant Colonel Shimangarishi Nkuna of Kameeldrift police said the safety of residents would always remain his highest priority.
His wish for the New Year was to see residents playing an active role by protecting themselves.
“Personal safety is crucial and should be viewed as a shared responsibility between authorities and individuals. We therefor ask the community to work with us in a combined effort to stop crime.”
He said the police would maintain a zero tolerance to criminal activities and lawlessness.
