A video showing how easy it is for thieves to steal from a vehicle has gone viral on social media.
The video, which was recorded at a petrol station last January, was posted by the Doornpoort CPF as a warning to motorists in the north of Pretoria to be vigilant.

Six vehicle thefts were reported every week in Sinoville, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk told Rekord in December.
“It is still the biggest concern we have in our area,” said Van Dyk.
He said the jamming of vehicles using remotes was one of the methods often used by criminals to break into vehicles.
“People should always be alert when parking their vehicle at a school, shopping centre or even a filling station,” said Van Dyk.

“Always make sure your doors are locked. Check the handle of the door before you move away from the vehicle.”
Van Dyk said negligence played a big role in vehicle-related crimes.
“We still find that people will leave valuable belongings on the front seat,” he said.
“During patrols we find that some motorists would even leave their windows open or doors unlocked in parking areas.”
Van Dyk said residents should lock their cars even when they are parked at home.
