Tyger Valley college class of 2017 achieves 100% pass rate

Each learner got 1.64 distinctions.

Tyger Valley College top achievers for the matric class of 2017 deserve an applause for their outstanding results.

The school achieved a 100% pass rate with an average 1.64 distinctions for each learner.

The top five achievers were Michael Craig, Alexandra Woodborne, Paige Georgiades, Carla Smith and Henro van der Westhuizen.

Craig obtained eight distinctions in mathematics, English, Afrikaans, physical science, business studies, accounting, life orientation and geography.

His high school achievements include being a deputy head boy, dux scholar, academic colours, first team hockey captain, first team cricket captain, head of SRC and sport half colours.

Craig has enrolled for a BAcc with Stellenbosch University.

The cricket, tea and football lover wants to be a billionaire.

His motto is: “if you are good enough, your time will come”.

Woodborne obtained eight distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, life orientation, accounting, geography, physical science and life science.

Woodborne wants to study MBChB because he wants to cure cancer.

Georgiades has obtained seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, business studies, physical science, geography and life orientation.

One of her achievements was being elected head girl and being in the top 10.

She will be studying international business at Stellenbocsh University.

Georgiades said she would like to travel and see the world, open a coffee shop and become successful in her career.

“My father studied and opened his own business to become successful. He started numerous businesses, including Tyger Valley college and always teaches me to never hold back and act on my ideas.”

Head girl for 2017, Carla Smith obtained seven distinctions in mathematics, English, Afrikaans, physical sciences, life sciences, geography and life orientation.

She wants to study chemical engineering at Stellenbocsh University.

“I like science and I feel that chemical engineering will give me a wide range of career opportunities to pursue.”

She enjoys exercising, being social with friends, going to concerts, travelling and art.

Van der Westhuizen obtained six distinctions in accounting, science, mathematics, information technology, life orientation and Afrikaans.

He believes that science is the future and wants to study computer engineering at the University of Pretoria.
