A 25-year-old man was apparently drugged and his car was stolen after he and a friend booked a hotel room with two women on Saturday evening.
Police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said the two men met two women in Sunnyside and went to a hotel in Menlo Park, where they booked a room for the night.
During the course of the evening, the women prepared drinks for the group.
“The men woke up the next day in hospital and the owner of the Toyota Hilux was informed that his vehicle was stolen the night before.”

Weilbach said the SAPS suspect that the women had drugged the two men before stealing their vehicle.
She urged the public to be wary and not to allow anyone to mix their drinks for them.
“Think carefully before leaving a pub, club or party with somebody you just met – even if they are well-dressed, good-looking and female.”
“Should you feel dizzy, drunk or ill after only one or two drinks, you should immediately seek help from a responsible member of the hotel, pub or club,” she said.
“Be suspicious if somebody poured you a drink and it does not taste like what you asked for,” Weilbach said. “If you are unsure about your drink, leave it.”
She said drugs used to spike drinks included rohypnol, ketamine hydrochloride (an odourless anaesthetic) and gamma hydroxybutyrate, a veterinary product that paralysed its victim.

Weilbach said that a case of motor vehicle theft against the two suspects has been opened. The police are following up on various leads and hope to make arrests soon.
