A son reported his father to police for having a veritable dagga plantation in his backyard.
The 56-year-old father was consequently arrested by Loate police after they discovered dagga with an estimated value of over R10 000 on the property.
“Police received information from the suspect’s son who said he had had enough of his father planting dagga like fruit trees at his house,” said spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi.
The man was arrested on Saturday at around 15:00 at Winterveldt, north of Pretoria after his son had approached a passing police patrol.

“The suspect told police that he uses the dagga as medicine and also to perform rituals,” Moremi said.
The man is expected to appear in the Ga-Rankuwa magistrate’s court soon.
