Court interpreter shot and killed in Soshanguve

The unknown suspect fled the scene on foot, and nothing was taken from the house.

A Pretoria North magistrates court interpreter was shot and killed at her house in Soshanguve.

The shooting happened around 05:00 on Monday morning as the victim was getting her son ready for school, said Rietgat police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka.

Theresa Mashaba (54) was shot twice by an unknown man, in the face as well as in the chest, inside her house at Block R.

She was rushed to Botshilu private hospital where she was certified dead upon arrival, according to Maluleka.

The unknown suspect fled the scene on foot. Nothing was taken from the house.

“The motive of the killing is still unknown,” said Maluleka.

A murder case has been opened.
