The body of a 23-year-old man who went missing early this month was found floating in a river in Kameeldrift, east of Pretoria, on Valentine’s day.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Portia Maleka said the man went missing on 3 February and his body was found on 14 February.
“The family of the deceased apparently became concerned after he did not return home and reported the matter to the police four days later.”

Maleka said the man’s mother had sent him to withdraw cash at the shopping complex but he never came back.
“This gruesome discovery was made by a passerby who alerted the police.”
At this stage, it was still unclear what was the cause of death.

Police said an inquest docket has been opened.
“We are still waiting for the post-mortem results that will confirm the real cause of death.”
