Five suspected car hijackers were arrested in Atteridgeville on Monday.
The men hijacked a 37-year-old man in front of his Atteridgeville house last Friday, according to police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango.
“He stopped his car in front of his gate. As he was trying to open it, armed men approached him and forced him into the backseat,” he said.
The hijackers drove around with the victim before dropping him off at Semenya Street, said Msimango.

“The suspects took his cellphone and cash before speeding off with his vehicle.”
The hijacked vehicle was later recovered at a scrapyard in Pretoria west, where it was stripped for spare parts.
The two owners of the scrapyard were also arrested.
The arrests were made after an intensive investigation by the Tshwane west Trio task team.
