The Atteridgeville police and their Tshwane West task team colleagues are on a mission to flush out hijackers from the area.
Ten hijackers were arrested in the last four months after what Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango called “a concerted effort to put these people behind bars”.

On Monday, five suspected car hijackers were arrested in Atteridgeville, Msimango said earlier.
The men had hijacked a 37-year-old man in front of his Atteridgeville home last week.
“He had stopped to open his gate when armed men approached him and forced him into the backseat of his car,” he said.
The hijackers first drove him around then dropped him off in Semenya Street, said Msimango.

They robbed him of his cellphone and cash.
Msimango said the man’s car was later recovered in a scrapyard in Pretoria West. It had been harvested for spare parts.
“The two owners of the scrapyard were also arrested.”
Last month, three men allegedly involved in a string of hijackings of delivery vehicles around Attridgeville were arrested.
In November, a man said to be the mastermind behind hijackings in the city was finally arrested in Atteridgeville.
The task team joined forces with the crime intelligence operatives to track down the notorious 24-year-old suspected robber and hijacker.
He was wanted on suspicion of involvement in 15 robberies and hijackings in the area.
