The police have launched a manhunt for about nine armed men responsible for the cash-in-transit heist on Friday.
The robbery took place on the N4 in Pretoria.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo said it was alleged the robbers shot at the G4 Security cash van using rifles, forcing it to stop.
“The men then forced the three guards out of the vehicle,” said Masondo.

“They blew up the safe using explosives and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.”
Masondo said the robbers sped off in two Audi A4 vehicles, a blue and a silver one.
“Luckily, the three security guards were not injured during the robbery.”
