UPDATE: Centurion robbers denied bail

The three men entered a company boardroom in Eldoraigne and threatened to shoot the occupants.

Two men arrested after a bungled business robbery in Centurion last week are still behind bars.

The men briefly appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court last week, but were denied bail, according to Wierdabrug police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma.

“Their accomplice was arrested on Thursday, but has since been released after deciding to turn state witness,” she said. “He was the driver of the getaway car.”

Huma said the three men entered a company boardroom in Eldoraigne and threatened to shoot the occupants.

“Staff came out of their offices and a scuffle with the suspects broke out, during which one attacker was nabbed; but the two others escaped. One of them was caught outside shortly afterwards by security guards.”

One of the suspects was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the attempted robbery, said Huma.

The suspects were expected to return to court on 2 March.
