The war between meter taxi operators and Taxify intensified when two more taxis were torched in Sunnyside yesterday.
“One of the drivers was also assaulted during the incident,” said police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela.
“Two cases of malicious damage to property and one of assault were opened at the Sunnyside police station,” he said.

This comes after a Taxify driver was burnt to death on Thursday evening, allegedly by rival meter taxi drivers.
Gauteng MEC for community safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane condemned the killing of the driver in Sunnyside.
She urged anyone who may have information about the killing to report it to their nearest police station.
