The killers of Taxify driver Siyabongo Ngcobo will be brought to book, Gauteng community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane said on Wednesday.
“These bastards have taken his life just like that,” she told reporters in Pretoria.
“The culprit will be found – dead or alive.”
Ngcobo’s burnt body was found in the boot of a car in Sunnyside on Friday evening. He was was attacked by a group of men as he was picking a customer up from a church service in Arcadia.

Nkosi-Malobane and Gauteng MEC for roads and transport Ismail Vadi paid condolences to the family in Centurion on Wednesday.
Nkosi-Malobane said she would not rest until those responsible for the murder were behind bars.
Highly-ranked police officers had been deployed to work on the case.
Vadi said the barbaric nature of Ngcobo’s murder was unacceptable.

“The operations [of metered taxis, Taxify and Uber] will be shut down [if necessary].”
Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the 21-year-old Ngcobo was a final year student at the Tshwane University of Technology
His funeral service was scheduled to take place in KwaZulu-Natal next week on Sunday, said Nkosi-Malobane.
