24-hour Eersterust drug blitz nets 8

A 15-year-old boy was among the eight people arrested.

Eight people were arrested for drug-related crimes in less than 24 hours in Eersterust this week.

Eersterust police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said a 15-year-old boy was among the eight arrested during the operation launched on Wednesday.

Eersterust police officers focused on an intelligence-driven operation in order to address illegal drug dealing in the area,” Shibambo said.

Four men were arrested for alleged possession of drugs, while four others were held for alleged dealing in drugs.

“The police intend to sustain their operations throughout the year in order to deter drug-abuse,” he said.

Shibambo said the arrest of the minor proved that the police would stop at nothing to deal with the drug dealers irrespective of their age.
