Police watchdog, Independent Police Investigative Directorate National ((Ipid) spokesperson Moses Dlamini told Record that the police were on a manhunt for the 35-year-old wanted for two counts of attempted murder and one for pointing a firearm.

“On Sunday evening, the VIP protection unit member went to look for his wife who was at her parent’s house but she was not home. He then shot his father- and mother-in-law. The mother-in-law was treated at the hospital and discharged,” explained Dlamini.

Dlamini said the father-in-law was still in high care after he underwent surgery on Tuesday.

According to Dlamini, in January the member faced a violation of protection order case.

Arrangements had been made for his wife, mother-in-law and his two minor children to be moved to a secure location by the witness protection service.
