A motorist got the better of two would-be car hijackers east of Pretoria on Wednesday.
It was believed that a man was accosted by two men as he entered the Woodlands lifestyle estate around 13:00.

“A grey Honda Civic pulled in behind him and two suspects jumped out with a hammer and ran towards him,” said a witness, who wishes to remain anonymous.
“They hit the driver window with the hammer and the man drew his firearm, prompting them to immediately run back to their car and flee the scene.”
Estate manager Estelle Du Plessis believed the man had been followed from Menlyn Maine mall.

She said the estate was looking at ways to beef up security to avoid residents being accosted while waiting for the gate to open.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones said she was unaware of the incident, saying no case had been opened.
