Mamelodi police said they would not rest until they have found an 18-month-old baby girl who went missing more than a month ago.
Kagiso Akhile Giqo went missing in a tavern in Phomolong informal settlement, Mamelodi East on 16 February of this year.

Her minder claimed to have left the baby girl next to her sleeping mother during a baby shower party.

“At the moment no one knows what happened to Akhile,” said police spokesperson Captain Michael Mbewe.
Mbewe said the mother could not explain when she had seen her child last.
According to her statement to the police, she only realised the child was missing two days after the party.

However, the toddler’s grandmother Rose Ina Phetla said Akhile was last seen with the minder.
“We found her bag with some nappies in the minder’s shack,” said Phetla.
“She must just tell the truth about the whereabouts of the child.
Life is not the same without her at home.
We have searched everywhere and we would like to plead with anyone who knows about Akhile’s whereabouts to come forward.

“Please bring her back home.”
Mbewe said police were busy with the investigation and no arrests have been made.
