Housebreaking equipment was found after a car chase in the east of Pretoria in the early hours of Wednesday.
“We identified a suspicious blue Ford bakkie going from pole to pole in Maroelana. One of the three suspects was seen climbing up a pole attempting to cut electric cables,” said CSI armed tactical response company spokesperson Dana Bloem.
He said the trio fled the scene as soon as they realised they were being followed.

“CSI gave chase through Menlo Park, onto the N1 and out towards the N4. The men in the bakkie dumped equipment as they raced off, damaging the CSI vehicle,” Bloem said.
The suspects dumped the bakkie and fled into the veld on foot, he said.
Bloem said housebreaking equipment was found inside the recovered bakkie.
The trio is linked to other cable theft incidents, he added.
