A Mamelodi man who kidnapped, raped and murdered a 23-year-old woman who lived only a few blocks from his family home was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Daniel Ntokozo Masango was sentenced in the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday to 25 years imprisonment for the murder of Katlego Ndlovu on 2 September 2014.

He also received an additional 15 years for rape and another 15 for robbery – in total 55 years.
Masango was arrested at his home in May 2015 after he was linked to the murder because his DNA samples were already on record after it was taken in connection with a separate rape case.
Masango had reportedly given Ndlovu and her boyfriend a lift on the day of her murder, but then dropped off her boyfriend and continued on with Ndlovu.
Her naked body was found the next day in the veld by a passer-by. She had died of blunt-force trauma to the head and manual strangulation.

Eunice Ndlovu, the victim’s mother, said she was happy with the sentence, but “wished the court could have given him two life sentences”.
Eunice described her daughter as a loving person who did not deserve what happened to her.
At the time of her death, Ndlovu was working while studying theology at Unisa.
