A 62-year-old man is still recovering in hospital after he was shot in a robbery gone wrong in the east of Pretoria.
The incident happened on the corner of January Masilela and Lynnwood Road at around 17:15 last week Wednesday when the man and his passenger were accosted by two armed men.
“They had just stopped on the corner of the road when they saw two men approaching their vehicle,” said police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones.

“This was followed by a scuffle that resulted in the passenger pointing a firearm at the suspects.”
During the scuffle, one of the suspects bit the passenger’s hand and managed to flee with his firearm.
The other suspect shot the elderly man in the stomach before making his escape.
Police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.
“We appeal to the public to assist with information that could help with the arrests of these two suspects,” said Jones.
