At least 24 people have been arrested in Ga-Rankuwa during a crime prevention operation.
Police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi said the Easter Crime Prevention operation started on Thursday and ended on Monday.
He said the operation consisted of random roadblocks and searches as well as raids.

The arrests were made for “possession of dagga, contravention of protection order, illegal immigrants, providing accommodation to an illegal foreigner, assault common, malicious damage to property, theft, housebreaking and theft, common robbery, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of drugs among others”.
Nkoadi said the suspects were detained at the Ga-Rankuwa police station and would appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court.
“Police will not leave any stone unturned when dealing with criminal activities within its area of jurisdiction,” said Nkoadi.
“We will continue to intensify the raids at these bad and hijacked properties with the assistance of the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies.”
He said of the more than 500 motorists tested for alcohol, two had exceeded the legal blood-alcohol limit and fined.
“Criminals must know that they might run but there is no place for them to hide in Ga-Rankuwa,” he warned.
“It is essential that we bring back the rule of law in our community and take it back from the criminal elements who take advantage of desperate people and house them under deplorable conditions.”
